History of Sheffield, UK

The city of Sheffield which was founded in the 8th century was incorporated as a town on 10 August 1297, and incorporated as a city in 1893. The city has a total landmass of 142.06 sq mi, and has an estimate of 577,800 residents living in it. Sheffield is a metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire with a population density of 4,100/sq mi, as the city is ranked the third most populous city in England and the largest village in England.

According to research, life has existed in the area where the city presently exists for the past 12,800 years, which is since the late Upper Paleolithic. Evidence that supports this claim was discovered at Creswell Crags to the east of Sheffield.

The Pennine tribe is one of the earliest people to settle in the area, as the area where the current city of Sheffield is was the southernmost territory tribe in the Iron age, and it was called the Brigantes. Research shows that several hill forts were constructed by this tribe, in and around the city. When the Romans left the area, it is said that the area was likely the southern part of the Brittonic kingdom of Elmet.

Over the years, the city has experienced massive growth, and the businesses in the city have also grown sporadically, as this is all thanks to the Sheffield Business Network. This group is a collection of progressive thinkers who own businesses in the city, coming together every month to put together ideas that will help businesses in the city grow. A beneficiary of the efforts this group is making is Apex Pest Control. They are the number one pest control agency in the city, also providing Deer and Forestry Management, as well as the best pest control Sheffield reviews.
